New York Woman Struck, Killed by Bus at Mohegan Sun Wednesday

The 62-year-old was hit by a commercial bus in the area in front of the Tribal Public Safety complex which is adjacent to Eagle View, the employee building

Connecticut State Police at Troop E in Montville have confirmed for Montville Patch that 62-year-old Pui Yi Li of Elmhurst, Queens was struck and killed by a bus at Mohegan Sun Wednesday afternoon.

Li was crossing the roadway in front of the Mohegan Tribal Public Safety Building when she was hit by a commercial bus. Li was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich and died from injuries sustained in the accident.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the bus.

What's the name of the driver and why were charges not filed? What time did the accident occur? The TV stations are giving different times, some say 3 others say 6.

Just because charges have not been filed yet doesn't mean they won't. Conversely, charges may never be filed, meaning it was accidental. As an aside, but could be important in the accident reconstruction (which is likely is being done or recently completed), there is a light and cross walk in that area that workers use to get from Eagle View, where employee shuttle buses pick up and drop off employees, to the employee parking lot across the street.

Charges can't be filed until they have a good idea whose fault it was. The intersection is very nicely designed, but unfortunately, neither drivers nor pedestrians can be expected to follow the law when crossing. If you've ever been at that intersection between 3:30 and 4 pm, you'd wonder how pedestrains aren't killed crossing that street every day. They need to do some serious ticket-writing there for both drivers and pedestrians. If people won't prioritize their lives and the lives of others over getting to work on time, maybe they'll prioritize the cost of a ticket instead.

Oh, and Corey, I have no clue why some news outlets are saying it happened at 6 pm. It happened at about 3. They were still working the scene at about 3:50 when I arrived for work.
