Montville Police Log, May 21-28
The following arrests were recorded at Connecticut State Police Troop E. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all are innocent until proven guilty.
May 25
William Covey, 33, of 35 Boulevard Road in North Windham, falsely reporting an incident, $250 bond. According to the Connecticut State Police Casino Licensing and Operations Unit, Covey reported that his warrant was stolen and its credit cards fraudulently used in excess of $7,000 at the Mohegan Sun casino; an investigation determined that this was a false report.
May 26
Donald Jacobowitz, 39, of 164 Fellows Road in Oakdale, second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct, $75,000 bond. Jacobowitz was arrested by the Montville Police Department.
Richard Royster and Veronic Hayes, no ages listed, of 1954 Norwich-New London Turnpike in Montville, second-degree breach of peace. According to the Connecticut State Police Casino Licensing and Operations Unit, the two were charged with causing a physical disturbance at the Mohegan Sun casino.
Accidents
There were no accidents recorded in Montville by Connecticut State Police Troop E between May 20 and 28.
Memorial Day weekend stats
According to the Connecticut State Police, over the course of the Memorial Day weekend from May 24 to 27:
- There were 281 motor vehicle accidents on state roads, including 59 with injuries. Two people were killed in accidents, one in West Hartford and one in North Stonington.
- Troopers arrested 57 people on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Troopers issued 4,294 hazardous moving violations, 1,941 speeding violations, and 718 seat belt violations
