Montville Police Log, June 18-25

The following arrests were recorded at Connecticut State Police Troop E. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all are innocent until proven guilty.

 

June 18

Paul F. Deckelman, 31, of 97 Elm Street in Old Saybrook, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, reckless driving, failure to obey traffic signal, disobeying officer signal, no bond listed.

Michael Guertin, 31, of 110 Mayflower Drive in Cranston, R.I., reckless driving, $250. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Guertin was arrested after he was clocked driving 113 miles per hour on I-395 south between Exits 79A and 79.

June 21

Daniel R. Duberg, 48, of 26 Champlin Drive in Westerly, R.I., driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, insurance coverage failing to cover minimum requirements, failure to wear seat belt, no bond listed. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Duberg was pulled over on Route 32 for failing to wear a seat belt and subsequently failed a sobriety test.

Danielle Dubicki, 30, of 120 Main Street in Norwich, violation of probation, $10,000 bond. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Dubicki was involved in a domestic incident and found to have two warrants for her arrest in East Lyme.

Jeremy Ly, 19, of 2300 Coleman Place in Little Rock, Ark., creating a public disturbance, $103 fine. According to the Connecticut State Police Casino Licensing and Operations Unit, Ly was involved in a disturbance on the gaming floor as well as outside the Mohegan Sun Casino in the Earth Valet.

June 24

Kelly I. Shea, 43, of 26 Monroe in Norwich, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, insurance coverage failing to meet minimum requirements, failure to register a vehicle eligible for commercial registration, failure to drive at a reasonable distance, $500 bond. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, police were investigating a minor two-car collision at the intersection of Route 163 and Route 32 and determined that Shea, who was involved in the accident and determined to be the at-fault driver, was under the influence of alcohol.

 

Accidents

At about 8:33 a.m. on June 18, a 2009 Toyota RAV4 driven by 60-year-old Fu Chang of Norwich collided with bicyclist Mark W. Ruffo, 55, of Griswold, at the intersection of Route 32 and Trading Cove Drive. According to the Montville Police Department, Ruffo collided with the vehicle after it pulled out in front of him as he was bicycling north on Route 32. Ruffo was wearing a helmet and taken to Backus Hospital for complaints of pain and dizziness.

At about 2:30 p.m. on June 18, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 31-year-old Paul F. Deckelman of Old Saybrook collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 49-year-old Jeffrey Weed of Norwich at the intersection of Route 85 and Route 86. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Deckelman stole the pickup in Old Saybrook, engaged officers in a pursuit on I-95, ran a red light at the intersection’s traffic signal, and collided with the left side of Weed’s vehicle, a propane truck. This truck ended up upside-down into a nearby pond. Weed was rescued by officers and a citizen and taken by Life Star to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. Deckelman was treated at Backus Hospital for minor injuries and charged with the above named offenses.

At about 1:37 p.m. on June 21, a 2004 Saturn Ion driven by 28-year-old Michael Costas of New London lost control while driving on I-395 South near Exit 79A. The vehicle went over the left rumble strip and then continued across both lanes, where it struck a curb and reflector post. There were no injuries and the vehicle was not towed.
