Montville Police Log, July 9-16

The following arrests were recorded at Connecticut State Police Troop E. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all are innocent until proven guilty.

July 9

George Lavigne, 31, of 326 Massapeaug Side Road, sixth-degree larceny, $2,500 bond. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Lavigne was accused of stealing from his girlfriend’s purse to buy illegal drugs.

July 11

Donzella Chambers, 52, of 2 South 4th Ave. in Taftville, sixth-degree larceny, $500 non-surety bond. According to the Connecticut State Police Casino Licensing and Operations Unit, Chambers turned herself in at the Connecticut State Police office in Mohegan Sun on an active arrest warrant issued by the G.A. 21 Court related to a May 23 incident.

Robert Cordero, 28, of 30 Maiville Drive, first-degree failure to appear in court, $1,000 bond. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Cordero turned himself in at the Troop E barracks on an active arrest warrant.

Stephen M. Jacobs, 51, of 22 Harris Fuller Road in Preston, sixth-degree larceny, $500 bond. According to the Montville Police Department, Jacobs left Stop and Shop with $250.57 worth of groceries.

July 13

Rory M. Mckiernan, 26, of 6 Nelson Drive in East Lyme, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive in proper lane, $500 bond. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Mckiernan was stopped after he was seen driving erratically on Route 32 and found to be under the influence.

Sung An Hsiao, 33, of Flushing, N.Y., second-degree failure to appear in court, $1,500 bond. According to the Connecticut State Police Casino Licensing and Operations Unit, Hsiao was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by the G.A. 21 Court.

July 14

Harry J. Dumond, 21, of 11 Jeffrey Manor Road, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive in proper lane, unsafe movement of a stopped vehicle, $1,000 bond. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Dumond was traveling erratically on Jerome Road and turned onto Maple Ave. with screeching tires; police conducted a traffic stop and determined that Dumond was under the influence.

Luis R. Galindo, 34, of 38 Dennison Ave. in New London, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive right, driving without a license, $1,000 bond. According to the Montville Police Department, Galindo was stopped for erratic driving and refused to take a sobriety test.

 

Accidents

At about 2:13 p.m. on July 13, a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by 50-year-old David W. Gilmore of Westbrook was traveling south on I-395 when it lost control due to wet conditions and collided with a metal guardrail half a mile south of Exit 78. Gilmore was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

At about 2:26 p.m. on July 13, a 2007 military Oshkosh truck driven by 26-year-old Kyle Beaumier of Danielson was traveling south on I-395 when it attempted to stop and lost control while trying to stop due to the above accident half a mile south of Exit 78. The vehicle collided with a metal guardrail on the southbound left shoulder. Beaumier was given a written warning for failure to stay in proper lane.

At about 7:15 a.m. on July 15, a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 44-year-old Randal Jacques of Uncasville was traveling north on I-395 when the motorcycle veered off the left shoulder four-tenths of a mile before Exit 79A and collided with the center guardrail. Randal was not wearing a helmet and suffered an incapacitating injury. He was taken to Backus Hospital and died during surgery.
