Montville Police Log: Drug Bust, Casino Disturbance

Recorded activity by the Montville Police Department and Connecticut State Police Troop E from August 7-12

The following arrests were recorded at the Montville Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all are innocent until proven guilty.

Aug. 7

David E. Berge, 47, of 230 Connecticut Blvd., assault on public safety or emergency personnel, $5,000 bond. According to the Montville Police Department, Berge was arrested on a warrant after a motor vehicle stop.

Aug. 8

Everett Beltran, 19, of 38A Narragansett Road in Westerly, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree criminal mischief, $500 non-surety bond. According to the Connecticut State Police Casino Licensing and Operations Unit, Beltran urinated in the parking garage and broke a small bench while being ejected from the Mohegan Sun Casino. He was detained by Tribal Police before he was taken into custody by state troopers at the casino.

Aug. 10

Jessica Ann Niewiarowski, 28, of 15 William Street, possession of drug paraphernalia, sale of manufactured drugs, possession of narcotics, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, $10,000 bond. Jonathan Rodriguez, 33, of 17 Gifford Lane in Norwich, sale of manufactured drugs, possession of narcotics, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, $10,000. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, an anonymous tip led police to perform a vehicle stop on the duo at the Henny Penny gas station on Route 32. A search of the vehicle found 29 bags of heroin, two needles, marijuana, and $470.

Jason E. Randolph, 42, of 68 Bergendahl Road in Griswold, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to obey traffic signal, $500 bond. According to the Montville Police Department, Randolph was pulled over after failing to obey a traffic signal and arrested after failing sobriety tests.

Aug. 11

Rafael A. Herrera, 42, of 204 Norwich-New London Turnpike, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to drive right, no bond listed. According to the Montville Police Department, Herrera was stopped for erratic operation and failed sobriety tests.

 

Accidents

At about 10:48 p.m. on Aug. 8, a 2003 Saturn L200 driven by 40-year-old Lee Brennan of Waterford struck the front end of a 1998 Dodge Caravan driven by 49-year-old James Edwards of East Lyme on the Exit 79A on-ramp for I-395 southbound. Edwards was slowing for traffic in the construction pattern when Brennan passed on the left. According to Connecticut State Police Troop E, Brennan left the scene and was later located and found to have a suspended driver’s license. He was issued summonses for evading the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license, unsafe passing, and failure to notify DMV of an address change and given a G.A. 21 court date of Aug. 27.
