Montville Officer Honored For Outstanding Service

Gregory Jacobson apprehended armed suspect in July

The Connecticut State Police honored a Montville police officer this week for his work in apprehending an armed suspect last year.

Officer Gregg Jacobson of the Montville Police Department received a medal for outstanding service from the Connecticut State Police, according to The Day.

The honor recognizes Jacobson's role in the July arrest of Justin P. Weissinger of Lyme, who is currently facing numerous burglary and larceny charges. Jacobson and Officer Mark Hallbauer of the East Lyme Police Department reportedly gave chase after seeing Weissinger speeding on Route 161. The vehicle was later found abandoned off Cardinal Road in East Lyme.

Police say Weissinger was found with a sheathed knife and a .380-caliber handgun that had been stolen from a Salem residence.
