Montville and State Police Logs - July 13-20

The following arrest information was supplied by the Connecticut State Police and Montville Police. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

July 13

A police stop of an alleged erratic driver resulted in an arrest and charges of driving under the influence for a Willimantic man. Noel J. Ortiz, 32, was pulled over on Rt. 32 around midnight and subsequently charged with driving at speeds in excess of 85 mph and DUI.

July 14

Joshua R. Chapman, 30, of Gales Ferry is facing a number of charges after an incident where he allegedly forcibly entered his girlfriend’s home in Montville in the pre-dawn hours last Saturday. Chapman, of 85 Military Highway, was charged with second-degree burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was held on $30,000 bail.

A Gales Ferry man, driving on Rt. 32 in Montville just before midnight was doing so without lights. Police pulled him over and charged Charles A. Klaben of 269 Whalehead Road with driving under the influence.

An Uncasville man, who crashed and rolled his car off an embankment on Giants Neck Road, fled the scene only to be apprehended a short time later with the assistance of a canine unit. Kenneth J. Gagnier, 28, of 7 Gair Court was charged interfering with an officer, evading responsibility, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and breach of peace.

July 15

A 50-year-old man, with no address listed, was taken into custody after Mohegan Tribal police discovered him “passed out” in his car with it running. When State Police arrived, he became increasingly “uncooperative.” He was charged with driving under the influence. Several hours later, it was discovered that Baldev Singh had an outstanding warrant. He was held on $50,000 bond.

July 16

David Betancourt of Georgia Road in Montville was arrested “without incident” by police in connection with a June domestic incident. He was wanted on an active warrant in the case. The original charges were assault and breach of peace. He was held on $25,000 bond.
