Letter: A Holiday Thank You to Our First Responders

The Crossley Family expresses its thanks to Mohegan Fire and local police and ambulance personnel for making the best of a trying situation.

I wanted to share with you my experience with our local police, fire and ambulance at the Mohegan Fire Department.

On 12/7 my husband fell off of our roof while he was, you guessed it putting up christmas lights. I knew immediately I had to call 911. From the instant the dispatcher answered the phone, to the time the ambulance arrived, it was less than 10 minutes. The men that came to my house were unbelievably efficient, and nice.

My 11-year-old son, who had the misfortune of seeing his dad fall off the roof, was understandably hysterical, and one of the men took him aside to calm him down and explain exactly what was going to happen once they put my husband into the ambulance.

From the dispatcher, to the last EMT to deliver my husband to the hospital, I have comfort in knowing if any thing ever happens again, we are in great hands in the Mohegan area! My husband will be released from physical rehab on monday, and we are all very grateful to the Mohegan fire, ambulance, and police for their fast and caring response to our emergency. A big thank you to all of them and happy holidays.

We have wonderful volunteers and employees helping us, and it was nice to see them again tonight when Santa stopped at our house on the fire truck.
