In a bizarre case, police say a Connecticut woman was arrested at Mohegan Sun this past week for allegedly stealing her son’s ashes from a Bridgeport funeral home, the Connecticut Post reports.

Police say the woman had her son’s ashes in an urn at the casino when she was taken into custody, the Connecticut Post reports.

Police said Raisa Gonzalez, 18, of Ogden Street Extension went to the funeral home and ran off with her son’s urn.

She was apprehended at the casino by police.

She was charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

WTNH News 8 reports that the woman’s son had died in Puerto Rico and had been cremated at the Luz De Paz Funeral home in Bridgeport.

The ashes did not belong to her?

Well weren't they hers? How is that stealing? And so what???? She would have brought them home anyway.

Unfortunately if you don't pay for the cremation you don't own the ashes. I guess poor people have to forget about recovering their loved ones.

She probably didn't pay for the cremation yet, so the Funeral home did not release them to her...

She's 18. Her baby died. Clearly she is going through a little bit of emotional turmoil. Does she really need to be in jail? I think the writer of this story could have included a few more facts.
