Crashes, DUI Charges Lead Montville Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by Connecticut State Police and Montville Police. It does not indicate convictions.

May 9

At 2:14 p.m., Montville Police responded to a three-car crash on Route 32 at Woodland Drive. Vehicles driven by Veronica Hamel, 34, of 5 Norman Road, Norwich; Michelle L. Brickett, 39, of 327 Kate Downing Road, Plainfield; and Nicholas A. Sirianni, 49, of 10 Marldon Road, Brookfield, collided. Hamel and Brickett both complained of neck and chest pain. Sirianni was shaken up but refused treatment.

At 5:55 p.m., Montville Police responded to 16 California Circle, Oakdale, where they arrested Thomas W. Barnes, 43, and charged him with disorderly conduct. He was assessed a $1,000 nonsurety bond and given a May 14 court date.

At 12:57 a.m., Montville Police arrested Michael V. Maskell, 33, of 10 Carolina Drive, Apt. 24A, and charged him with failure to drive right, failure to have tail lamps, driving while registration or license is refused or suspended, and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was assessed a $500 nonsurety bond and given a May 29 court date. No location was given for the arrest.

May 13

At 5:37 p.m., police arrested Peter John Niles, 21, of 182 Dunham St., Norwich, and charged him with failure to drive right, insurance coverage failing to meet minimum requirements and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. No bond was assessed. He was given a June 5 court date. The arrest followed a one-car crash on Route 163.

May 15

At 2:17 a.m., police arrested Robert Cordero, 27, of 30 Maiville Drive, Oakdale, and charged him with failure to drive in the proper lane and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was assessed a $500 bond and given a May 29 court date. The arrest followed a routine traffic stop on Gov. John Davis Lodge Turnpike in Montville.

May 16

At 8:24 a.m., Montville Police responded to a school bus vs. pickup accident on Meetinghouse Lane. The truck was driven by Brian F. Chainey, 46, of Stratford. The bus was driven by Floyd L. Chaney, 56, of 650 Raymond Hill Road, Uncasville. There were no injuries. The driver’s side mirror on each vehicle was damaged. There were students on the bus.

At 2:34 a.m., Montville Police arrested Walter Pabon, 48, of 15 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, and charged him with failure to drive right, traveling unreasonably fast and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was assessed a $1,000 nonsurety bond on the latter charge, and given a June 5 court date. The arrest occurred on Route 32 at Gallivan Lane.

May 19

At 2:18 a.m., police arrested Brian M. Jones, 51, of 1202 Deer Creek Circle, Lithonia, GA, and charged him with driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was assessed a $500 surety bond and given a June 5 court date. The arreste came on Mohegan Sun Blvd., after a traffic stop.

And then there this story, from today's Bulletin, about a chase on Interstate 395, in which speeds topped 140 mph.
