Child Care Center Fire May Be Arson; State Police, Fire Marshal Investigating

Fire reported just before 6 p.m. Monday on Old Colchester under investigation.

 

Connecticut State Police and Montville Fire Marshal Raymond Occhialini are investigating the fire at the day care center facility Monday evening as a possible arson.

According to a statement from CSP spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance,  "An accelerant detection canine was utilized during this fire investigation. Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime & Troop E were notified and responded to the scene."

Vance's statement:

On 11/26/12 at about 5:40 p.m. a working structure fire at 1127 Old Colchester Rd. Montville was reported by the residents there. The property is a commercial day care and was unoccupied at the time of incident. Oakdale Fire Department responded and conducted suppression activity.

Following suppression activities by the fire service, a cause and origin investigation was conducted by the Town Fire Marshal with the assistance of Troopers assigned to the State Fire Marshal.

An accelerant detection canine was utilized during this fire investigation. Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime & Troop E were notified and responded to the scene.

There were no reported injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Town Fire Marshal office with the assistance of Troopers from the State Fire Marshal, the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad, & Troop E. 

Anyone with any knowledge or information regarding this fire is asked to contact the State Police at Troop E (860) 848-6500.  All calls will be kept confidential.

The investigation is continuing.
