Bus Crash and Fights Reported

The following arrest information was supplied by Connecticut State Police and Montville Police. It does not indicate convictions.

April 19

At 2:38 p.m., police responded to a car vs. school bus crash on Route 32 at Woodland Drive. Cynthia M. Paquet, 63, of 136 Route 82, was driving the bus; Mary E. Emery, 59, of 532 Fire St., Montville, was driving a 2011 Subaru. Emery complained of chest and back injuries; her car had heavy front end damage. There were 17 students on the bus. Six were transported to the hospital, as was one driver, according to the report.

At 5:53 p.m., police arrested Thomas Calandra, 34, of 15 McCulley Place, Uncasville, and Colby Kay, 20, also of McCulley Place, and charged them both with third-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace/fighting. According to the report, Kay also was charged with causing damage to Calandra’s vehicle. An April 20 court date was scheduled.

At 6:57 p.m., police arrested Randy T. Herbert, 25, of 58 Pautipaug Hill Road, Baltic, and charged him with breach of peace/fighting, and threatening; and arrested Maryanna E. Kobyluck, 28, of 593 Route 82, Oakdale, and charged her with breach of peace/nonassaultive. Bond for each was set at $500, and May 3 court dates were scheduled. The arrest came after an alleged disturbance on Route 97 in Baltic.

April 21

At 2:09 a.m., police arrested Ronnie Gale Hoard, 52, of 343 Mohegan Park Road, Norwich, and charged him with failure to drive upon right and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The arrest came after a traffic stop on Route 163. Hoard was taken to Norwich Police Department for a breath test which, according to the report, he refused, and was transported to Troop E for processing. No bond amount is listed; he was given a May 1 court date.

At 12:21 a.m., police arrested Guy Swinyer, 47, of 1 Fellows Road, Oakdale, and charged him with driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and failure to drive in the proper lane. The arrest came after a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 395 south in Norwich. He was released on a $500 nonsurety bond and given a May 1 court date.

April 22

At 5:51 p.m., Montville Police arrested Joseph T. Sedora, 41, of 332 Fitch Hill Road, Uncasville, and charged him with breach of peace/threatening, carrying and sale of dangerous weapons, carrying of pistol or revolver without permit, criminal trespass in the first degree, interfering with an officer/nonassaultive and second-degree reckless endangerment. He was assessed a $20,000 bond on the carrying and sale charge, and given an April 23 court date. The arrest came after a trespassing complaint on Fitch Hill Road, according to the report. Sedora is alleged to have been carrying a gun, which later was identified as a pellet gun. The report says that he discarded the gun “prior to police arrival, and (it) was subsequently located by a state police canine.”

April 23

At 1:23 p.m., police arrested Julie A. Perry, 33, of 1580 Route 85, 3L, Montville, and charged her with breach of peace, criminal possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of narcotics, illegal storage of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was assessed a $20,000 nonsurety bond and transferred to the Department of Correction. A May 20 court date was set. The arrest came after a report of an alleged disturbance between neighbors. The report says that during the investigation, “it was determined that one party was in possession of electronic stun gun, prescription narcotics, drug paraphernalia and prescriptions outside the original container.”

April 24

At 6:37 p.m., police arrested Ann E. Johns, 30, of 254 Leffingwell Road, Uncasville, and charged her with operation a motor vehicle when registration or license if refused/suspended / revoked, and speeding. She was assessed a $500 nonsurety bond and given a May 18 court date.
