Montville, State Police Report Activity

At 6:28 p.m., Connecticut State Police arrested John Seung Kim, 43, or 35 York St., Ansonia, and charged him with driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and speeding on highway/up to 85 mph. The report says that Kim was stopped for allegedly driving 99 mph in a 50 mph zone, and that “subsequent investigation revealed that the accused had been drinking.” He was assessed a $500 nonsurety bond and given a court date of April 7.

At 2:14 a.m., Montville Police arrested Zubair Mahmood, 27, of 12 Penobscot St., Norwich, and charged him with failure to drive right and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was assessed a $500 nonsurety bond on the latter charge, and given an April 12 court date. The arrest came after a stop for a motor vehicle violation on Derry Hill Road.

At 11:30 p.m., Connecticut State Police responded to a car fire in a rest area on Interstate 395 southbound, across from Troop E. Montville volunteer firefighters responded, and found a Ford Explorer on fire, with the doors locked. Witnesses reported that the occupants had run from the area; they could not be found.

About an hour later, Eva Ruiz, 48, of 625 Route 163, Uncasville, came to Troop E, saying that she had been driving the car when it caught on fire, and that she had gotten a ride home from a stranger. The report says that Ruiz’s license was under suspension, and she was issued a summons.

At 4:45 p.m., Montville Police arrested Arthur T. Jones, 59, of 519 Mohegan Park, Quaker Hill, and charged him with failure to drive right, and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The arrest came on Route 32 after, according to the report, Jones was seen “driving erratically.” He was assessed a $500 nonsurety bond, and given an April 12 court date.

At 1:43 p.m., police responded to a three-car accident at 765 Route 32. Vehicles driven by Zachary Jurczyk, 18, of 1021 East Lake Road, Montville, and Jeffrey W. Holmes, 35, of 17 Alger St., New London; and Dennis H. Levine, 66, of 64 Dubois Road, Monville, collided. There were no injuries. Jurczyk initially left the scene, as he told police he was not involved and did not know that a collision had occurred.

At 2:43 a.m., Montville Police arrested Katrina Cook, 22, of 48 Sandy Lane, Norwich, and charged her with failure to drive right, driving a motor vehicle while registration or license is suspended, and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The arrest came on North Gov. John Davis Lodge Turnpike; police stopped Cook for a motor vehicle violation. She was assessed a $500 nonsurety bond and given an April 12 court date.
