Writer Questions Town Council Handling of Appointments

Letter to the Editor from Jim Andriote Sr.

 

 

Recently two elected officials in Montville resigned and the Democratic Town committee replaced them without public consent.

Newly appointed Town Council member and former Mayor Joseph Jaskiewicz is currently being sued by a longtime town employee for Jaskiewicz’s alleged verbal and abusive behavior which caused her to leave her job. 

The second appointment, Joseph Socha who the Democrats appointed to the Board of Assessment Appeals, is the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit, which alleges Mr. Socha’s actions resulted in someone’s death.

Based on the seriousness of these two cases  and with respect to the voters who chose Councilman Gary Murphy and Board of Assessment Appeal member John Geary, the Montville Democratic Town Committee should have exhibited better judgment when selecting replacements for these individuals.
