OK, we've all seen it, and many of us have done it.
You're driving down the road, and coming toward you is a car with a dog sticking its head out the driver's side window.
Is this dangerous? Is it a distraction? Or is it just something that makes dog and driver happy?
Our neighbor to the east, Rhode Island, is considering a law that would kick dogs out of the driver's seat for good.
The proposed fines are $85 for a first offense, $100 for the second and $125 for subsequent offenses.
Connecticut does not have such a law, though it is one of at least eight states requiring owners to kennel or tether dogs or other animals that ride in a vehicle's open areas, usually a truck bed.
What do you think? Should dogs be kept out of the driver's seat? Take our poll!
