Patch's Poll: Should Rush Limbaugh Be Fired?

The talk radio host's attack on a young woman over birth control has created a firestorm. What do you think?

On Sunday, The Washington Post asked if conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has had his "Imus moment." The backlash continues to grow against Limbaugh in the wake of his attack on Georgetown student Sandra Fluke, who spoke at a Democratic panel in support of insurance coverage for birth-control costs.

On his show, Limbaugh called her a slut and a prostitute and encouraged her to post videos of herself having sex so “so we can see what we’re getting for our money.”

Since then, a number of advertisers have dropped Limbaugh's show, he issued a statement saying his “choice of words was not the best” and that he was attempting to be humorous.

What do you think? Should Limbaugh be fired? Should his advertisers be boycotted? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.

Tune in next week for the exciting sequel: Barack and his chums in Congress recruit Sandra Fluke to play the part of a deprived Georgetown law student whose sexual appetite exceeds her limited bank account and who now wants to change the moral principles of the Catholic Church to get free pills. Congresswomen Nancy Pelosi and Caroline Maloney join her in a faux Congressional hearing designed to convince the American people that this is something other than an assault on the First Amendment’s freedom of religion. Listen in, as Ms. Fluke gets a call from the president complimenting her for following the DNC script to the letter.

You're cracking me up Kendall. I'll be looking forward to the first episode of The Obamas. Could George be right? Have we said what needs to be said? We know there are some who can't absorb reason because they're too busy spewing hate and calling names. I'm saying goodnight now and I'm in for a busy week. Maybe we can have more fun with another poll in a few days.

"We are speaking of Limbaugh, if you wish to discuss another subject, start a new column. If you want to insult people, go to the equivalent of Hyde Park Speakers' Corner and identify yourself." I rather think that is an invitation to curtail speech in this forum, sir. I find that those who resort to etymology as a cornerstone of an argument have nothing of merit to discuss. The imagery you sought to conjure was hardly alluding to a six hundred year old usage of the word terror. I wonder how smallpox and the guillotine figure into your dissertation. Surrender wisdom? Please, sir. I have simply argued a position contrary to yours. I never used inflammatory language to support my thesis - one that is hardly based on 'seeking comfort in emotion.' You compared a vulgar word to terrorism. This is patently an appeal to emotion, though hardly intended to be comforting. I rather agree with Mr. Lazarre; this conversation is tiresome.

We would all be better off if we could learn the difference between the very important and meaningful freedom of speech and the abuse of speech.
