In vindictive and cowardly fashion, Montville’s Council Democrats tried to repeal the Child Safety Zones following the repeal of the Senior Safety Zones.
While I personally opposed the Child Safety Zones because I feel they are unenforceable and offer no protection for our children, I don’t believe this ordinance was as legal a threat as were the Senior Safety Zone ordinance and there were no plans to petition to repeal the Child Safety Zones.
This was just an obvious attempt to cast us in negative light to parents that support Child Safety Zones by blaming our repeal efforts of the senior zones as reason to repeal the child zones.
Their effort however proved to be unsuccessful due to council chairwoman Buebendorf’s incompetence and lack of understanding of how to repeal an existing ordinance.
So the bottom line is that Montville’s child safety zones are still in effect.
