Superior Service...a 40-Year Family Tradition

Small family, big business! Here in Uncasville!

Lathrop Vending, Inc. is an Uncasville based, family-owned business that was started in 1971 by Lawrence H. Lathrop Sr., and is now its 40th year of operation.

The third generation, current owners, Mark and Lynne Lathrop, work hard to preserve the same high standards and superior service reputation that has made Lathrop Vending stand out among their competitors.

In 1989 Gloria and Lawrence H. Lathrop Jr. took over ownership of the business, andquickly gained clientele with numerous high profile vending accounts such as Phelps Dodge (now known as Freeport McMoran) and Smurfit Stone Container (now known as Rock Tenn).

With his vision and goals set firmly in place, Larry set out to be the largest vending company in eastern Connecticut.

Lathrop Vending, Inc. (LVI) became active members of the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, National Automated Merchandising Association, and the Connecticut Vending Association. Larry Jr. is a past president of the Connecticut Vending Association and Mark now serves in that position. LVI is also a woman-owned, small minority business enterprise through the state of Connecticut Supplier Diversity Program.

Larry has been semi-retired since January, but is still the first one at the office most mornings. Not long ago, Mark and Larry visited our state capital to testify against passing the Bottle Bill, which would have doubled the tax on all bottled beverages, and also fought for sales tax exemptions in order to keep prices as low as possible for our customers.

We proudly serve several businesses in the Montville/Uncasville area, including Mohegan Sun Casino, Thomas G. Faria Corp., Smurfit Stone Container (Rock Tenn), Montville Town Hall, Youth Services Bureau, Senior Center, Montville and State police barracks, as well as many other small businesses in town. Our list of out of town customers include Foxwoods, many factories throughout eastern Connecticut, colleges, school systems, health-care facilities, state and town offices, etc.

Our territory spans from as far as Enfield to Woodstock, from Stonington to Madison, and most towns in between. We employ 10 route drivers who confidently service these accounts with an expected level of professionalism. Our Office Coffee division has grown remarkably over the past few years, with the use of Keurig machines, New England coffee, and Bunn pod brewers. Water cooler customers have also increased, providing clean, filtered water as an alternative to having to buy your own, or bring bottled water from home.

LVI recently implemented the use of handheld computers for our route drivers, ensuring accurate, scheduled filling of machines. We are conscious of environmentally friendly items and supplies, and of the need for healthy choices, which is why we offer Heart Healthy products in all of our accounts.

LVI stays informed of ever changing technologies and ways to provide better services to our customers. we are now in the process of offering Avanti Markets, an alternative to vending machines. No products getting stuck, no lost money. It's like having a conveniences store right in your lunch room, with self check out! These markets are well suited for companies with at least 150 employees. We look forward to continuing to serve our community as well as eastern Connecticut, for years to come.
