Daily Five: Stock Those Shelves, Disco on the Beach, and Jane Austen on Heat

Your Daily Five, Montville. Happy Thursday!

 

1. Expect a near repeat of the last few days with heat and humidty and, for today, a 50-50 chance of a morning shower or two. Partly to mostly cloudy from afternoon into evening and night time temps around 70. Jane Austen already said all I can say about the oppressive heat of the last few days: “What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance.”

 2. The Inland Wetlands Commission meets tonight at 7 p.m. at Town Hall in the council chambers. The agenda includes remarks from the public.

3. It's Batman part duex as The Montville Leo Club screens the second of two Batman flicks tonight  Admission is $2 and will be show  at the Camp Oakdale Pavilion, at 8:15 p.m.

5. Finally, and importantly, around the holidays shelves are usually well stocked in area food pantries. Help out by cleaning out hose cupboards of canned goods and non-perishables that you can live without and drop them off at the Social Services Food Pantry at 310 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the Senior Center located at 12 Maple Ave. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please call 860-848-8820 for more information.
