Thanksgiving Food Baskets

Montville Senior & Social Department is calling on support from the community to help provide Thanksgiving Food Baskets to our needy Montville Families.

It is that time of the year when my Department starts to prepare for the Holiday Food Baskets we distribute to our needy and indigent families in the Town of Montville.  The Holidays can be a very tough time for people and this year is no exception.  Many of our clients are just not able to make ends meet and without the support from those in our community willing to help, we would not be able to provide for as many as we do!  Our Food Bank is an extremely busy service with many new families joining each month!  We are presently providing over 3,000 meals a month to Montville residents.  A Thanksgiving Dinner is a luxury many simply cannot afford!

This year we expect to provide 350 Food Baskets for Thanksgiving and another 350 Food Baskets for Christmas.  We also provide our needy families with children, toys at Christmas time.  This program, as all of our Social Servcies Programs, runs entirley on donations!  The Town of Montville Senior & Social Services Department would like to call upon your generosity to help us, help our friends and neighbors in need this Holiday Season.  We are collecting non-perishable food items (canned goods, boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, etc.) and/or monetary donations to help us provide a Thanksgiving Dinner along with items for many other meals to our clients.  If you would like to help a Montville family in need, please drop your donations off at the Montville Senior Center, 12 Maple Avenue in Uncasville.  For more information, please call the Director, Kathleen Doherty-Peck @ 860-848-0422 or Asst, Robin Washington @ 860-848-8820.  THE GENEROSITY OF SO MANY IN OUR TOWN IS NOT ONLY APPRECIATED, IT'S TREASURED!
