Politicans Make Sure Rand Whitney Profits!

Wake up Montville Taxpayers! Did you know that the Mayor, the Town Council and the WPCA want to give Rand Whitney the $5 Million dollar Grant the Town received so Rand Whitney can build an Aerobic Digester on their property? The Digester will only be a benefit to Rand Whitney. On top of giving away the $5 million dollars, they are going to alleviate $1.2 million dollars Rand Whitney would pay to the Town for Sewerage Fees. If you take the $12 million dollars the Town was ordered to pay from the Rand Whitney Lawsuit and add 5 million dollars the Towns is giving them, throw in a $1.2 million dollar savings for 10 years to Rand Whitney, it’s costing the Town $29 million dollars.

The Mayor, Town Council and WPCA want you to believe that would prevent another Lawsuit from occurring. That’s an expansive gamble and scare tactic the Politicians are using. They obviously don’t care about the town. Those people can’t plan anything 2 years into the future, yet they are predicting what Rand Whitney might do in the next 10 years.

People forget, when Rand Whitney first proposed to build the new plant, Montville bonded almost $3 million dollars to build the water line that cost us $18 million dollars in the long run. That was for the Judgment and Lawyers bills for the 12 years the lawsuit  took to resolve. They were supposed to keep the Box Plant called Robertson Paper Box open for as long as they owned it. They found a loop hole to close it down,  laying off 300 people. They sold it to a subsidiary of the parent company, so they no longer would have ownership.

The next thing Montville's politicians did was to give them Robertson Road, because they were proposing building an Deinking Plant across the street from the Cardboard Liner Plant. That plan fell through. I think it was a ploy to get the bleeding heart politician’s to give up the road. The Plant was never built.

When Rand Whitney proposed building the Liner Board Plant, they were given 4 years of Personal Property Taxes paid for by the State and on top of that were given 7 years of their Real Estate Taxes waived by the Town. When the 7 years was up, they sued the Town over the Taxes claiming they were not done properly and were too high.

There seems to be pattern here of Montville's politicians doing whatever is in the best interest of Rand Whitney instead of the residents of our Town. Mayor McDaniel and his buddies on the Council are more concerned about taking care of a business that profits from these politician's mistakes. Or maybe these are not mistakes? It makes you wonder what is really going on behind the executive session meetings that the public isn't allowed to know about.
