Our Person of the Week is a Man Without A Name

Anonymous resident gave $1,000 to help bring Thanksgiving to those in need in Montville.

I don’t know the name of Montville’s Person of the Week. I know he’s a he and is from Montville. And that’s about all I know, save for the one very important detail that makes him our Person of the Week.

Patch was told that this word of mouth and other media attention brought to the desperate situation the Montville Food Bank has been facing, walked in to the Montville Senior Center Wednesday and handed Senior and Social Services director Kathleen Doherty-Peck $1,000 to help feed the hungry in town this Thanksgiving. And then asked to remain anonymous.

Here’s the thing about that: We could just as easily have made the all of you People of the Week for the incredible generosity exhibited since Hurricane Sandy for not just our community and its needs related to hunger, but remember that folks here

I have been overwhelmed and humbled by not only the generosity folks have exhibited with food and other donations, but also by the generosity of spirit I have witnessed in this community since I began as your Patch editor.

And so, this week, it’s that spirit we celebrate when we name Mr. Anonymous of Montville as our Person of the Week!
