Child & Family Agency's Groton Auxiliary Intake Day

If spring is here can "Intake Day" be far behind? For Groton, it's a spring ritual of its own, when the community will carry out a 60-year tradition of collecting tag sale donations to benefit the work of Child & Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut. This year the day will be Thursday, April 24th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the City of Groton Municipal Building.

Members of the agency's Groton auxiliary and a legion of volunteers will collect, sort, box and then transport your contributions to the New London Armory for a bonanza, 3-day fundraiser which has earned a reputation for being one of the “Largest Tag Sales in New England.” This year’s 60th Annual Sale will be held May 1, 2, & 3 at a new, yet old  venue – the New London Armory at 249 Bayonet Street New London, CT  06320.

Items especially desired include furniture, household and decorative items, sporting goods, linens, antiques, furniture, collectibles, books and CDs, artwork, linens, jewelry, tools and garden equipment, toys, clothing, vintage wear, and small appliances. Organizers cannot take car seats, computers, heavy exercise equipment, large appliances, mattresses, women's lingerie, or bathing suits. For assistance with unusual or large items, contact Deb at (860) 449-0830 or debbiepettini@yahoo.com. Tax letters for donations will be available at the Municipal Building on Intake Day.

Your collective donations make a difference every year in the lives of the children and families served, but in times of economic turmoil your support is crucial, helping to stabilize some very fragile lives.  Last year over 17,000 children and their family members from 79 towns were helped by the agency’s staff of 175 dedicated professionals.
