Viewfinder: Montville Observes Memorial Day

The Events of the Day Brought Smiles, Laughter and Tears, Too

Crowds gathered on Sunday May 22 in front of , along the 2-mile long parade route, and at to honor , which is traditionally celebrated in Montville a week before the actual holiday.

"Some people think it's celebrated earlier because of Pappy's Run which happens on Memorial Day, but really it's so we can include all the bands and other marchers in the parade," says Gary Blackstone, a member of the Color Guard for in Uncasville.

To most Montville residents, the day isn't as important as the message.
