Original story

The big story for Monday evening was the wind and the loss of power for Montville.

Throughout the afternoon and evening Montville Emergency Management Director Raymond Occhialini kept tabs and alerted residents about ongoing efforts to restore power, but the high winds prevented repairs due to downed trees and power lines.

And CL&P outage maps reported the slow but steady increase in loss of power throughout beginning with single digit percentages until by 7 p.m., the utility was reporting that 99% or 7,966 homes were without power just as winds began to increase in strength.

Occhialini said the town’s Emergency Operations Center was operating via generator.
