Prague Does Not Regret Remark

'I Said It,' she says. 'I Meant It.'

State Sen. Edith Prague says that when she was asked whether she wanted to retract the remark she made about Joshua Komisarjevsky - that he should be hanged by his penis without a trial - she said no.

"I meant it," she said on Sunday. "Why should I retract it?"

Komisarjevsky is charged in the home invasion and deaths of the Petit family in Cheshire. Prague's remark reportedly caused special public defender Jeremiah Donovan to ask Judge Jon C. Blue today to delay the trial three months, because of possible influence of the jurors in the trial.

On Sunday, after speaking at the Memorial Day ceremony in Montville, Prague said she didn't regret the remark at all.

"They are such monsters," she said, speaking of Komisarjevsky and Steven Hayes, who was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death.

"Just because I'm a legislator, doesn't mean I don't have an opinion," Prague said.

She said she had no idea that her remark would cause such a firestorm of controversy. People, she said, especially women, have supported her over the remark.

"I said it," Prague said. "I meant it. I'd be the first one to do it."

I agree Edith but we really need to reform the Justice system. It is a shame that we have to retry them over and over again at a cost to the taxpayer. It should be one trial and counstitutional grounds for appeal and that is it. done DEAD!

Totally, Totally inappropriate. They are human despite their horrific deeds. These remarks are juvenile and like gas on a fire. Our leaders should know better. EP has done a great job for many years. I expect a higher level from her. Liane Hennessey MPH,PA-C

What a hypocrite. She is against the death penalty, yet isnt voting because the heinous crime. Doesn't want to impede the death penalty in this case. So, that means you are ok with the death penalty. Edith is poster child for term limits.

No death penalty! Nobody learns from it. People who think so just aren't thinking. If you knew the value of a life no matter how fallen you would never put the image to death, by revenge or self righteousness. People might take what appears to be eternity to learn some things. If you are honest you are no different. Ok so say someone kills the person you love more than any other persons. You find him you kill him. Did your loved one come back? And how do you really think your loved one free now of hate and blame feels about another person dying? We are body and material and woohoo look at the condition of this material world, then you have that part of you that is just experiencing things and the you who thinks.. The people who talk about the expense aregrasping at straws to support an emotional response, albeit strong, that they need some help to get out of the quagmire thereof.. And that's the truth.. Plphhhf! (in ur best Gilda voice)
