The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for this afternoon into Monday, saying there is the potential for rainfall rates of an inch an hour as the heaviest bands of the storm pass.

The National Weather Service Hydrometeorological Prediction Center said that "after an extended stretch of dry weather over the eastern third of the country, a widespread rainfall event is becoming likely from Florida to New England as a cold front interacts with a moisture-rich air mass from the Gulf of Mexico."

The heaviest rain is forecast for the deep south and Florida, and there could be snow in parts of Canada, but it looks like Madison might get its share of rain. As long as it's not too heavy, that could be welcome relief to an area that has had multiple Red Flag warnings recently due to dry weather that has contributed to .

Monday Night: A chance of showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. South wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a south wind between 15 and 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
