Montville's Person of the Week: Mary Clark Wilson

Making sure elections in Montville go off without a hitch, just watching the registrar makes you tired!

This one was a real no-brainer.

Mary Clark-Wilson is our Person of the Week and here’s why:  a seemingly tireless registrar of voters; Mary was so intensely focused on making sure the Tuesday election came off without a hitch – and this despite having lost days of work due to Hurricane Sandy – that each time I saw her this week and last she was moving like a Tasmanian Devil. Or maybe a whirling dervish!

I found her in her office juggling phones. She was working weekends. She was making calls trying to find voters who needed help. I found her in the field literally sitting on the floor at Mohegan Fire house setting up the handicapped voting apparatus even as residents without power were filing in to pick up water and grab a shower. On election night, she was running – yes, running -- in and out of her office, fielding calls, working with poll workers, checking numbers. The stress level in the office was high but she stayed, inexplicably, calm and focused; I was impressed.

Mary has been at this job for 12 years and as many elections. And while she wears her politics on her sleeve – she’s a staunch Republican – you know she is fair and unbiased in her job making sure every vote counts and is counted.

And so for her hard work and dedication we are proud to say Montville Registrar of Voters Mary Clark-Wilson is our Person of the Week.
