Governor: Three New FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers Open

The new DRCs for those who suffered property damage during Hurricane Sandy are located in New Haven, Old Saybrook and Groton.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Saturday that three additional FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are open in the state.

The newly opened DRCs — in New Haven, Old Saybrook and Groton — join DRCs in Greenwich and Bridgeport that the governor announced Friday.

“The opening of these centers represents one more step forward in the effort to get our residents' lives back to normal as quickly as possible,” Malloy said. “Any individuals or businesses who have suffered losses or damages as a result of Storm Sandy should visit a center and work with the staff there to review the benefits they are entitled to.”

The centers are open to residents of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties who suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy. FEMA requests that you register with them by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov before visiting a DRC. (For those with speech or hearing disabilities, the TTY number is 800-462-7585.)

The centers are open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The locations are as follows:

GROTON: Groton Senior Center, 102 Newtown Road

NEW HAVEN: Long Wharf Campus Gateway Community College, 60 Sargent Drive

OLD SAYBROOK: Department of Police Services, 6 Custom Drive (near the Department of Motor Vehicles)
