Daily Five: Winter Boots, Toy Drive and Holiday Bazaar

It's looking a lot like December in your Daily Five today, Montville!

1. Near 60 today under cloudy skies.

2. Mohegan Elementary School PTO meets tonight at 6. And speaking of Mohegan and its awesome PTO, they hold their student Holiday Bazaar at the school Thursday: “All your little shoppers will be able to select and purchase gifts for family and friends.  The teachers will sign up their classes for shopping times.  Don't miss this great opportunity to teach caring for others as well as money and math skills!” Love that!

3. More school stuff: Those Project Graduation 203 folks work so incredibly hard to raise the money for the grad party. It truly is a labor of love. On Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. 15 percent of the profits from the McDonald’s drive thru will be donated to Project Grad.

4. And from Tyl Middle School: The students and staff were incredibly generous at Thanksgiving and now the annual Toy Drive is under way where donations of new, unopened toys are being collected. Volunteers from the Montville Senior Center will use those toys to help create 400-plus gift baskets for Montville kids.

5. The TVCCA’s  Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is sponsoring the 2012 Santa Anonymous Boot Project for Montville and a number of other local towns and is looking for donors to help meet a widespread need for new winter boots.  Participants receive a letter with the first name, gender, age, and boot size of a child along with instructions on wrapping and drop-off sites.  Now through Dec. 14.
