Daily Five: The Sun, Kids Stuff and Fat Tuesday!

Your Daily Five, folks. Happy Mardi Gras!

1. A mainly sunny sky today with a high of 42 and a blustery wind.

2.  Students, staff and families jump rope for donations they donate to the American Heart Association, which is a win-win, by the way; support a good cause and have fun doing a heart healthy activity. Jumping commences at 9 a.m. with grade three skipping rope and then every half hour, another group or grade starts to jump. I’m sure they are still accepting donations! (Patch will jump by to take pictures!)

3. Kindergarten registration! Just a reminder that if you have a child entering Kindergarten in the fall, you’ll need to pick up the forms the week of Feb. 25 and return them by March 8.

4. Think spring! Sign your kids up for T-Ball, Baseball and Softball Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 6 to 8 at Fair Oaks School Community Center and again on Feb. 23 at Fair Oaks from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

5. Three kid things in a row...time for number 5 -- strictly for grown-ups. Mohegan Sun has a free Fat Tuesday party in the Shops concourse tonight from 9 to 1 with a DJ, dancers and entertainers handing out Mardi Gras beads. It's not the French Quarter, but it's just up the road, so there's that. Happy Mardi Gras!
