Daily Five: Roadwork Means Delays, Funny Felines and Voter Registration

Here's your Five, Montville. Hope your day is happy!

1. One more beautiful day before the rains come: Sunny, 76 degrees, nice and dry; perfect. But get the umbrellas ready.

2.  Traffic alert! Today and tomorrow, Sept. 17 and Sept. 18 the Town of Montville is chip sealing Kitemaug Road, Massapaug Side Road and East Lake Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect delays. Let me say that again; Expect delays!

3. Déjà vu! More roadwork! Also today and tomorrow, Sept. 17 and Sept. 18 the town is milling Forsyth Road from the Salem town line to Old Colchester from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Did I mention you should expect delays?

4. Crazy Cats photo contest starts today. I’ll admit I’m a cat person. But wait, I’m also a dog person!  My 11-year-old cat Izzy isn’t crazy as she used to be, but she can still stalk and capture a mole or mouse; they make perfect gifts! Anyway, take a great shot of your ‘crazy’ cat, or not-so-'crazy' cat doing something hysterical and win $100.

5. With the backdrop of National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 25, the League of Women Voters of Southeastern Connecticut has scheduled voter registration sessions in New London, Groton and Norwich, with more expected in October. None yet in Montville, but close enough.
