Daily Five: Mohegan Winter Concert, Contest Winners, and Got Westerly Hospital Baby Pics?

Your Five is awesome today. I think so anyway!

1. Expect partly cloudy skies early gradually becoming overcast with a high of 42 and light winds. We may see snow showers later tonight.

2. The Mohegan Elementary School ‘Winter Chorus and Band Concert’ is tonight at 6:30. Sounds delightful! Take pictures and post them on Montville Patch!

3. Inland Wetlands Commission meets tonight at 7 in Council Chambers. The agenda includes an application for a water main interconnection project with East Lyme.

4. We heard that During Fire Prevention Week in October, students at Dr. Charles E. Murphy Elementary School were invited to participate in the Annual Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest, which is awesome enough, but wait! There are six contest winners! From the fifth grade: 1st place, Kaycee Gagnier; 2nd place, Chase Swinburne and in 3rd place is Brianna Cusello. From the fourth grade: 1st place, Kiera MacCracken; 2nd place, Arieanna Simmons and 3rd place, Elise Minas. Congratulations!

5. The news about The Westerly Hospital ending nearly a century of bringin babies into our world is so sad.  I have a long history of both covering the hospital as a reporter for many years, but also as a patient and friend to many nurses and some doctors there. Based on the comments on Facebook, I know many of you either were born there, have family or friends born at the hospital, or even your own babies! So this really hits home for many of us.  Please share your Westerly Hospital stories and pictures on Patch; post a comment or story below or post a baby picture on Pics & Clips; we’d all love to see them!
