Daily Five: Gorgeous Fall Day, Stable Work, and Thanksgiving Recipes

1. When you wake there may be clouds. But fear not, the sun will come out and it will be gorgeous. 

2. On a tour of the public safety building two months ago, when it was still a work in progress, this reporter was nonetheless very impressed. So now that we’re fast approaching the grand opening, I can imagine that it will be nothing short of spectacular.

3. Jobs and volunteer work are available at Healing With Horses at WildRose Horse Farm. Having spent time in and around horse many moons ago, I know they’re an interesting place to work. You never know.

4. A lot has been said on the past few weeks about the need for food donations. A few have expressed frustration with the number of stories Patch has devoted to this issue. The issue is every time we do a story and a group, agency or family donates food the Montville Social and Senior Services food pantry, no sooner does the food go in the door and get stacked on the shelves that it goes right back out again. Indeed, while Patch was at the pantry Friday to take pictures of the Lions clubs delivering food donations, in the span of 10 minutes – perhaps less, actually, five people came in asking for food. And those five likely represent a family of folks. In October alone, 3,000 meals were served and two-dozen new families were signed up for assistance. That’s why we’re doing the stories. People need help and we’re trying to bring awareness.

5. Thanksgiving is three days away and while you likely have your menu planned, just in case, we’ve featured some awesome recipes from gravy  to side dishes and fresh cranberry sauce.
