Daily Five: First Graders Sing to Veterans, Help Stuff a Stocking and Burger Up

Your Five today includes nearly unbearable adorableness. And news, too.

1. Today the forecast calls for a mostly sunny day with a high temperature of 44. Seasonal.

2. Ready for some awesome adorableness? In mid-November, Oakdale Elementary first grade students from Mrs. Carlsen's, Miss Lynch's and Ms. Kivlin's classes presented a Veteran's Day Program to honor veterans known to them (uncles, grandpas, dads, friends) with songs and poetry and then read the name and branch of service of the veteran they wanted to honor. Here is the video I found on the school’s website. It begins with a charming young man dressed in navy blue fatigues. I promise it will make your day! Grab the Kleenex!

3. Don’t forget, from 4 to 8 today 15 percent of the profits at the Montville McDonalds window and drive-thru will be donated to Project Grad 2013.  No voucher is needed; just an appetite. Get your burger on.

4. Tonight is the Public Safety Building Committee meeting where the last of the punch list will be covered and the final details of the grand opening will be nailed down. Getting excited? It’s your building, Montville!

5. There are nearly 200 needy Montville teens signed up for a Christmas stocking from Social Services and Montville Youth Services Bureau is still hoping donations will come in so these kids have a gift in their stocking. If you are financially able to and can spare $5 or $10 for a gift card, please do. Check the story for details. Thank you awesome Montville!
