A Nor-easter Blowing Our Way

What will the impacts be? When will it arrive? Time will tell, but the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook statement

 

According to the National Weather Service forecast for Montville, a nor’easter is on its way with “impacts” beginning late Wednesday through Thursday.

“A nor-easter will develop along the mid Atlantic coast early Wednesday. The storm will intensify as it slowly tracks east through Thursday,” the NWS ‘hazardous weather outlook’ statement reads.

“Forecast uncertainty surrounds the exact details of how this storm will evolve...but the potential exists for several inches of snow...and strong winds...with gusts between 40 and 50 mph.”

The full forecast for Wednesday through Friday morning looks like this:

Wednesday: A slight chance of snow before 9am, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday Night Rain likely before 9pm, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Windy, with a northeast wind 26 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday A chance of snow before 9am, then a chance of rain and snow between 9am and noon, then a chance of rain after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Windy, with a north wind 26 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night A chance of rain before 3am, then a chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
