What did TEAM Montville Accomplish (Nov. 2009-2011)?

Team Montville is represented by Councilor's Ellen Hillman, Dana McFee, Rus Beetham and Donna Jacobson. Here are highlights of our accomplishments for Montville.

Resolution #2009-137:
To re-establish the Public Safety Building Committee due to errors in the original resolution, to present the Committee with their charge for the building, and to appropriate funds for secretarial needs. (Chairperson Jacobson)

Motion:
To send letters of accommodation to the public safety personnel who assisted in the Search and Rescue Operation on Fire Street. (Chairperson Jacobson)

Resolution #2010-13:
Authorized the Mayor to sign an agreement to begin construction and repair of the Old Colchester Road Bridge.

Resolution #2010-23:
Required that the Town Council receives copies of the monthly invoices from all attorneys doing business with the Town. (Councilor Hillman)

Resolution #2010-29:
Adopted Montville’s 2010 Plan of Conservation and Development.

Resolution #2010-37:
Created an operational annual Budget for the Public Safety Building Committee.

Resolution #2010-46:
Resolved to oppose the proposed Sex Offender Facility. Team Montville Councilors conducted a petition drive that had over 3500 signatures which were sent to the Governor and CT General Assembly.

Team Montville informed the public of a major shortfall in the revenue portion of the budget of approximately $1,400,000.00. (Chairperson Jacobson and Councilor Beetham)

Resolution #2010-68a:
Team Montville voted to reduce the Mayor’s over-projected budget revenues by $878,337.00.

Resolution #2010-69:
Team Montville voted to reduce the Mayor’s budget expenditures by $756,997.00

Motion:
To begin each Town Council meeting with a Moment of Silence in honor and support of our troops.(Councilor McFee)

Resolution #2010-87:
Authorize the acting Town Attorney to formally act on the injunction and/or civil and administrative litigation regarding the proposed Sex Offender Facility.

Resolution #2010-97:
Enacted the ordinance titled “Child Safety Zones” for the protection of children encompassing Town owned properties. (Councilor Hillman)

Resolution #2010-114:
Established a Regional Dispatch Committee to seek options and oversight of a proposed regionalized dispatch center at the new Public Safety Complex.

Resolution #2011-006:
Passed the negotiated contract with the Montville Board of Education and the Montville Education Association.  Town Councilor Russ Beetham was the liaison for the Town Council during negotiations and stated, “this was the best contract negotiated with the teachers in thirty years.

Motion:
Denied appropriating additional $205,000.00 to the Public Works for additional expenditures due to lack of documentation substantiating the request.  The final Public Works budget came in at -$65,000.00 because the Mayor allowed the Public Works director to buy sand in March, after the winter passed. 

Motion: 
To distribute a letter from the Town Council to surrounding municipalities requesting their support of proposed CT General Assembly Bill #5911.  This proposed bill reassessed the location of the Sex Offender Facility (Team Montville)

Resolution #2011-043: 
Assist in financial support of the Montville Community Rally sponsored by the Eastern CT Asian American Lions Club to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Resolution #2011-051:
Mayor’s proposed budget of $55,783,904.00 was cut by $222,799.00.

Resolution #2011-077: 
Created a Historical Preservation Steering Committee to oversee the renovations and preservation of the Raymond Hill Church. (Chairperson Jacobson)
