15th Annual CT Young Writers Trust Competition

Writers competition for high school students. Deadline to enter 3/31/12.

The Connecticut Young Writers Trust - is the state's longest-running literary compeition for teens.

2012 CT Young Writers Trust Competition Entry Guidelines

All entries must be received electronically by March 31, 2012. Please note that all of the following rules must be followed and the information below must be included as specified in order to insure eligibility.

A teacher in a public or private school must nominate entries for the competition. Home school nominations are also accepted. Only one entry per student is permitted. There are no length requirements.

Connecticut Young Writers between the ages of 13 and 18 (13, 14, 15, 16, 17 or 18 during school year 2011- 12) are eligible. Prose entries may include essays, short stories, reviews, plays, research papers or news articles.

Entries should be typed and double-spaced. Please number each page of your submission. The title must appear on the submission.

Do not place your name on your work of prose or poetry. All entries will be confidential when distributed to judges. Errors could result in disqualification.

Upload a PDF version of your submission into either the Prose or Poetry category below.

After uploading your entry, include ALL of the following in the area entitled 'Cover Letter':

1. CATEGORY- Prose or Poetry

2. COUNTY (not country) in which you attend school.

3. STUDENT INFORMATION

    a) name
    b) age
    c) date of birth
    d) complete home address
    e) phone/mobile number
    f ) email address

4. NOMINATING TEACHER INFORMATION

    a) teacher name
    b) email address
    c) name of school
    d) complete school address and phone number.

5. ENTRY INFORMATION

    a) Title of entry
    b) Number of pages
    c) First sentence of submission.
