It is electrified with 25,000 volts through an overhead catenary.
The Old Saybrook Station was originally constructed in 1873 by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and served that company along with the Connecticut Valley Railroad, Wikipedia reported.
East of the station is the Saybrook Junction Marketplace, a complex with shops, restaurants, and offices with architecture resembling a New England village. It was one of the first times that Amtrak allowed a private developer to take a long term lease on one of its properties to create a more attractive area.
The station is located at 455 Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook, is open daily from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and has station code OSB.
