Only about a half hour drive from the Connecticut/Rhode Island border on eerie Interstate 95 lies the Field of Screams in West Greenwich, R.I.
The say it’s where nightmares come true. A place filled with ghouls, zombies, and disembodied spirits.
The attraction consists of three components: the Haunted Insane Asylum reminiscent of the former Norwich State Hospital (which has its own reputation for spookiness), the Deep River Haunted Hayride, and New England’s only 4-D haunted maze entitled “Cirque Du Souls”.
In total, it will take 40-60 minutes to experience all three attractions.
A poll on the Field of Screams website recently showed that 44% said the hayride was their favorite while 38% liked the insane asylum the best. Another 16% preferred the Cirque du Souls.
Over 11,200 people have already “liked” their page on Facebook.
The Field of Screams, like the name suggests, is not for the faint of heart or the very young.
Flash photography is prohibited and the disclaimer states that folks will be experience “intense audio, lighting, extremely low visibility, strobe lights, damp or wet conditions, and special effects.”
Every night is costume night and those with great costumes get a $2 discount off the price of admission.
Hot dogs, drinks, popcorn, etc. are available for those whose fright might make them hungry and thirsty.
Tickets are $18 and the attractions will be open Thursdays and Sundays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A coupon online gives folks $1 off admission but is void Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays and Sundays typically feature smaller lines.
A SpeedPass option is available for $19.99 for those looking to bypass the line completely. Those brave souls can print their tickets from home.
SpeedPass can be used any night in the Field of Screams 2012 season.

Will the Field of Screams prove to be a good scare?
I will be attending Oct. 26, the Friday before Halloween, join me if you dare but don’t come alone!
That weekend I will be sharing my observations here on Patch. At that point, those looking for a last-minute scare can still enjoy the Field of Screams on Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30.
