Cheetah and Cheerleaders will Help Open Pequot Outpost

The Pequot Outpost includes a convenience store, Mobil gas and diesel station with electric charging station, and a Burger King with a dining room and drive-thru window.

If you are driving through the nearby town of Ledyard and are looking for a place to get gas, convenience items, and drive-thru fast food, all in one stop, visit the new Pequot Outpost.

To celebrate, a grand opening ceremony will be held this Thursday, Dec. 6 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The first 200 people will receive a $5 food coupon for the on-site Burger King and the New England Patriots Cheerleaders will be in attendance from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cheetos’ own Chester Cheetah will also make an appearance.

Every half hour there will be a chance to win $50 worth of gas and/or goods and the event will feature free food, prizes, and a live radio remote.

The facility, owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, features a convenience store that has opened Nov. 14 offering coffee, snacks, soda, cigarettes, and more.

A Burger King fast food restaurant with a dining room and a drive-thru window opened Nov. 29 next to the store.

In front of the store and restaurant is a newly-opened Mobil gasoline station with 24 pumps, two of which are high-speed diesel pumps for busses and larger vehicles.

Customers can expect to see a charging station for electric vehicles and a service area for recreational vehicles, according to Dale Wolbrink, Foxwoods public relations manager.

The charging station is “one of the first in the state, so we’re very proud to be adding that to this full service facility,” said William Sati, a representative of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

In a WNPR Radio interview, Rodney Butler, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council, said the facility is “one of the biggest gas stations in the country.”

Gasoline prices are “competitive”, he said. “Ninety percent of our patrons are drive in, so it just makes sense to have a gas station to support them.”

Cinque Dames and Jeff Hayward, who lead the Tribal Business Advisory Board that oversees the5,000-square-foot facility, said "the superb location, level of service and number of amenities will prove to be a great benefit to anyone visiting the property as well as to local residents."

This is the first 24-hour Mobil gas station in Ledyard while it’s the second Mobil station in town

It’s the first Burger King in Ledyard while the next closest Burger King’s are in Groton and Norwich.

“There’s definitely a need, especially with a fast food restaurant here in southeastern Connecticut. A Burger King having a drive-thru, you don’t see anything in probably an eight to 10 mile radius of here. It’s a good bet, yes,” said Sati.

Pequot Outpost will have more than 60 employees.

The gas station and convenience store are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

It is located off the “Ledyard Center” exit of the Route 2 Expressway, near the junction of Foxwoods Boulevard and Lantern Hill Road (Route 214), and directly across from the Two Trees Inn entrance.
