Your Take: Is Connecticut Bad For Business?

'We're Number 45!' is not exactly a great marketing slogan for luring businesses to the state. What are your thoughts on Connecticut's business climate?

ChiefExecutive.net has released its annual ranking of the best and worst states for business, and Connecticut dropped one place (going from bad to worse).

In 2012, Connecticut ranked 44th out of the 50 states in business climate. In 2013, the Nutmeg state dropped to 45th. Worse than us? New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, New York and California.

The CEOs surveyd gave Connecticut 1.5 stars out of 5 on Taxations & Regulations; 3 out of 5 stars on Workforce Quality; and 3 out of 5 stars on Living Environment.

Among the comments given by the CEOs were these:

  • “Connecticut is the worst. Poor leadership.”
  • “Lower taxes and realistic regulations that don’t send businesses elsewhere. Connecticut is at the bottom of the list.”
What's your take? Is Connecticut bad for business? What changes need to be made? Share your thoughts in the comments.
