Video Viewfinder: He Hopes The Rolling Tomato Will Roll Right into Your Life

Montville man's mobile pizza place has delighted people at the Pavilion all summer

Bob Currier has an idea that he hopes will brand itself on your taste buds: real wood-fired pizza.

The Rolling Tomato is Currier's brainchild, and if you've been to many of the events this summer at the Camp Oakdale Pavilion, you've seen it - or at least smelled its delicious fragrance.

Currier ordered the pizza oven from Italy, figured out how to make it work on his utility trailer, and set out to bring wood-fired pizza to southeastern Connecticut.

His pizza oven gets to 700 degrees, and the heat is all around the pizzas, which cook in two minutes, he says. All his pizzas are named after his dogs.

The Rolling Tomato website has a calendar of the mobile restaurant's schedule. Tuesday's concert at the Camp Oakdale Pavilion has been canceled, but you can find The Rolling Tomato at the Bozrah Farmer's Market on Friday, the Ansonia Car and Bike Show on Saturday and the Bob Valenti Auto Mall Car Show in Mystic on Aug. 12.

You can hire The Rolling Tomato for a party or an event; prices are on the website, as are photos of the pies and the creation of the mobile oven.
