New Oakdale Pizza Under Construction In Manor Plaza

The New Business Will Be Larger And Have An Outdoor Patio

Over at Manor Plaza off of Old Colchester Road, the new Oakdale Pizza is under construction. Annie and Simo Fotiadas bought Manor Plaza when it went for sale in October, a month after their old business burned down in Oakdale Plaza fire. The new Oakdale Pizza will occupy the former site of the Pour House Cafe.

Oakdale Pizza has been in Montville when Annie’s parents started it back in 1974.

“We have a beautiful memories of that place,” she said. “We’ve been a part of this town for so long. I miss getting a little bit of everyday life when people come in.”

She says that she often hears from old customers, inquiring about when the restaurant will be going up.

In the new location, Oakdale Pizza will occupy a bigger floor plan and will include an outdoor dining patio as well as more room for storage. With their liquor permit from the state, it will also be able to serve beer and wine.

“We’re ready to go,” said Fotiadas.

Still, there is work to be done, which is taking them longer than they anticipated. During the day, they have been working with contractors to outfit the building. It has been a complete strip and overhaul, including new pipes, furniture and kitchen set up.

“It was easier to take everything out and start from scratch,” Fotiadas said.

In the mean time, they have spent time going through the process of obtaining a liquor license and zoning permits.

At this point, she forsees another two months before a grand opening.

Manor Pizza, which is inside the plaza, will be moving out. Fotiadas says that they were on good terms with the owner and were helping him find a new spot.

“He was going to relocate anyhow,” Fotiadas said.

When they bought the plaza, the couple also invited two other businesses that burned in the fire at Oakdale Plaza to come over with them–the Great Wall, a Chinese Restaurant, and K9, a dog-grooming salon.
