Mohegan Sun Slots Fall in CT, Rise in PA

And MA residents want a visit from the casino operators

Mohegan Sun’s slot revenue fell 5.4 percent in March, to $59.3 million, compared to a year earlier.

Revenue is the amount kept by the casino after payoffs.

Mohegan’s “handle,” the casino’s total intake in March, fell 8.5 percent, from $776.9 million to $710.9 million.

In Pennsylvania, however, the landscape is different. There, according to the Times-Tribune, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Plains Township posted an increase of more than 5 percent compared to a year ago.

Revenue from the 2,332 slot machines at Mohegan Sun increased 5.89 percent from about $56.5 million in the first quarter of 2011 to nearly $59.86 million in the first quarter of 2012, the website said.

Meanwhile, residents of Palmer, MA,where the Mohegan Sun plans to open a casino, have asked that plans of the project be released. Citizens have also petitioned the town council there to hire a professional negotiator to deal with the casino operations people, according to MassLive.com 

The Town Council to invite Mohegan Sun to a meeting within the next 30 days to hear an update about its proposal.
