Where to find the cheapest gas in the region

Gas prices continue to fall, though maybe not for the best reasons. Consumer Affairs say a drop in the price of oil is contributing, but so are worries over the economy. According to ConnecticutGasPrices.com, the state average for a gallon of regular gasoline fell a penny since Monday while the national average dropped three cents in the same period. The state average is at $3.53, with Colchester boasts the three stations with the cheapest price in the state: a Phillips 66, Citgo, and Stop & Shop, all with a price of $3.27. That's still higher than the national average, which was at $3.25.

In New London, the cheapest reported station as of Friday morning was the on Broad Street, with a price of $3.50 for cash payments. The farther up the street has a price of $3.54, again for cash only. The price you're most likely to find around town is $3.55, posted at the Williams Street , , and as well as the .

Waterford has the cheapest station in the immediate region this time around, with $3.42 gas available at BJ's on Cross Road. The next lowest price there is $3.45, available at the Mobil on Boston Post Road. Groton has a few economical stations as well, though. You can get a gallon for $3.44 at the Gulf on Mitchell Street, Mobil on Route 12, and - if you pay cash - the Hess on Route 12.
