Megamind, Dr. Seuss at Target, Pick-me-ups at Walgreens, iTunes cards, kids half price at Seaport.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars. 

This column is dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family's bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

1. Megamind on DVD

Deal: Megamind for $13.99 or less delivered + $5 coupon.  Amazon.com has a Megamind pre-order deal that ensures your DVD will arrive on Friday, Feb. 25 AND you get the best price. Best Buy has it listed for $13.99, everyone else has it for $16.99.  If the price DOES go down between the time your purchased and the time it ships you will get the lowest price.  PLUS you get a $5 bonus to use on your next Amazon.com order for movies and TV shows (think Tangled out next month), PLUS the shipping is FREE. They also have action movie bargains for $6.49.

2. Dr. Seuss Storytime.

Deal: FREE at all Target stores on Feb. 26 from 9am to 11am. Enjoy giveaways, coupons and hear Dr. Seuss favorites.  At www.target.com  you can order 2 classic hard-cover Dr. Seuss books (12 choices) for $10.  Parents can get 4X6 prints for 10 cents each.  You can even print photos from your Facebook page.  Grab some Stouffer's lasagna's for $2.50, Smart Ones  3 Cheese ziti marinara for $1.80 or some hot/lean pockets for $2.09. Grab ANY 6 frozen food items and get a FREE big reusable freezer bag.

3. Make-up & Vitamins.

Deal:  Feeling run down? has buy-1-get-1-Free vitamins.  Emergen-C, Centrum, fish oil, flax seed oil, CoQ10 even glucosamime chandrotin!  The beauty deal: all Neutrogena, Revlon, Cover Girl, Maybelline FITme and Garnier Skin care is Buy-1- get-1- half-off. Use the flyer coupons for 50 cent Arizona tea, Kleenex is 89 cents and Kraft mac and cheese is 69 cents.

4.  iTunes at Staples

Deal: $5 off two $15 iTunes cards or $10 off two $25 iTunes cards at Staples.  You know your gonna use it, it's just a matter of when.  I never see discounts on iTunes cards so keep me posted if you do.  This past weekend  I was dying to read The Yellow House by Patricia Falvey.  It was sold out everywhere.  Then I really had to have it.  So my 9-year-old says "Mom, why don't you just download it to the iPad?" Duh?  Why didn't I think of that?  Happy mommy, happy family.  iTunes cards are great for having around for gifts that your forgot to get somebody.  You can really give them to a 3- to 93-year-old and they are great.

5. 1/2 price for kids at

Deal: Kids free from school Feb. 19-27? Bring them to Mystic Seaport for some free admission. When you print out and present the coupon at www.mysticseaport.org  at the gate, one child (age 6-17) is free with every paid adult admission! And children 5 and under are always free! Good thru February 27th.
