1. If I am reading this forecast correctly and it’s correct, then today should be gorgeous summer day. Humidity will be tolerable at around 60 percent, little chance of rain, a passing cloud but otherwise lots of sun and temperatures at around 85; works for me.

2. What’s at stake? Well, let’s see. How about your vote counts because the folks that win here face in off in November and those are the people making our decisions for us. That work for you? 

3. School countdown: exactly two weeks until school starts.  And today is the first day of Clothing and footwear purchase of up to $300 are exempt from tax. Gone shoppin’.  

4. Tonight’s Town Council’s meeting agenda is rather chock-a-block with myriad items, some of which will likely provide stories from Montville Patch, so stay tuned. BY the way, have you ever been to a Town Council meeting? Council Chambers, second floor of Town Hall at 7. 

5. Last Friday we did a story on The story was one part about robin and one part about the vital services the department provides for residents. Here’s the thing: they need donations. Especially gently used, clean clothing and shoes especially for kids. School supplies are also needed. So when you’re sorting clothing, before heading to other larger donation centers (who are obviously equally deserving) consider going hyper-local (like Patch!) and drop donations (including food) off Monday through Friday between 9:30 and 4 at the People are in need, so if you can help, please do.
