2. Congratulations, Kerrie St. Denis of Montville High School! Chelsea Groton Bank is delighted to announce the winners of the Thirteen outstanding high school seniors -- Kerrie among the 13 -- who excelled academically and volunteered time and talent to improve this community were each awarded a $500 scholarship to support his or her pursuit of higher education.

3. Attention all Montville back-to-school shoppers: Mark your calenders! giving back-to-school and other shoppers a seven-day hiatus from paying the state sales tax on clothing and footwear up to $300.Tax free week this year will run from Sunday, Aug. 19, to Saturday, Aug. 25

4. Town Matters, the public access show hosted by Town Councilor Rosetta Jones, will feature Tony Siragusa, candidate for Connecticut State House of Representatives, for District 38.

5. Hospice Southeastern Connecticut is currently recruiting and training volunteers to serve in the area, including Montville and communities in New London County. The training series begins on Sept. 11 and includes four classes, held on Tuesdays, September 11-October 2 2012, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more info call 860-848-5699 or visit the website.
