CT Sun players, joining with Dunkin Donuts, greet customers at donut shops in Montville, Groton and New London

Five Connecticut Sun players and the head coach set out to give Dunkin Donuts customers a different kind of morning Thursday.

At Dunkin Donuts in Montville, Groton and New London, Connecticut Sun players greeted customers, signed autographs and even made a little coffee.

It was a regular morning at the Dunkin Donuts in Montville, says Jen Hildebrand, who does publicity for the team. The regulars were coming in on their way to work, getting their normal morning coffee, and shaking hands with forward Miste Mins and guard Allison Hightower.

A few people – including some season ticket holders – came specifically to meet the players. Some people brought basketballs for the players to sign.

“It went really well,” Hildebrand says.

In Groton, head coach Mike Thibault and guard/forward Danielle McCray visited the Dunkin Donuts at 799 Long Hill Road.

Thibault worked the drive-thru, while McCray helped customers.

And in New London, at the Dunkin Donuts at 390 Cleman Street, forward Kelsey Griffin handed out samples, while center Chay Shegog handled the drive-thru.

Mins and Hightower had a good time in Montville, Hildebrand says, signing autographs and working behind the counter. Mins worked the cash register while Hightower made coffee.

“They’re both total pros now. They can both go work at Dunkin Donuts.”
